Quality and safety are two things I am highly passionate about within the field of nursing. I make it a priority to ensure all my patients remain safe and that they are receiving the highest quality of care. One way I have contributed to improving quality and safety is being a part of the Unit Based Practice Council (see Professional Development for more information). In the outpatient mental health clinical setting, safety is extremely important. All patients must have a safety plan in place, especially those with suicidal ideations. An area of continuing improvement for me is having the knowledge and resources available for patients who need extra attention to safety.
