My philosophy of nursing is rooted in my faith as a follower of Christ. I believe that nursing is not just a career or vocation, but a calling from God. The Bible teaches that we are to serve others and esteem them above ourselves, as mentioned in Philippians 2:3. Jesus Christ spent His time on Earth in service to others and patterned a life that we, as Christians, should follow. As a nurse, I strive to incorporate my beliefs as a Christian and the fruits of the Spirit, which include love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV).
As a PMHNP, I plan to treat each patient with kindness and dignity, no matter their background. Nursing is not just treating a set of symptoms but treating the whole patient. By incorporating holistic care, evidence-based practice, and clinical decision-making, along with my beliefs as a Christian, I can help patients achieve their goals and become their best selves.
